SCG Valentine’s Day Fundraiser

The Senior Class Gift committee will be hosting a Valentine’s Day fundraiser to help our efforts in funding our gift. On Feb. 6 and 7, we will be tabling in the KC from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for anyone looking to pre-order a rose for Valentine’s Day. Each rose will be $2 and will be available for pick up at our table on Valentine’s Day in the KC; also 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also on Feb. 14, you can purchase a Valentine’s Day Gram for $1.

If you are interested in journalism and looking for a flexible and unique work experience, consider joining the Pleiad! We are a multi-media publication, run by students, that has been serving the Albion College community since 1883.

We are looking for students with an interest in writing, photography, graphic design, web page layout, marketing and social media curation. We are seeking dependable and curious students to join our diverse staff. We are accepting applications for part-time and volunteer staff writers and photographers. Students with a special interest photography, news and/or sports should apply. Applications will now be accepted through Feb. 9.

Attention Seniors! Annual Grad Fair on 2/20 & 2/22

Calling all Seniors walking the stage this May: Please stop by the KC Stack on either Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Thursday, Feb. 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for Albion College’s annual Grad Fair!

You’ll meet with various departments to complete the tasks necessary to walk across the stage at Commencement on May 4, including: the Albion College Bookstore, Campus Life, the Career and Internship Center, Institutional Advancement: Senior Class gift, the Registrar’s Office and Student Accounting.

Bring any and all Commencement-related questions with you. We look forward to seeing you there!

Catholic Women and Feminism from the 1950s through the 1980s, Friday at 4:15

Beyond Birth Control: Catholic Women, Childbirth, and Early Motherhood, 1950-1990 is the topic of a talk by Dr. Emily Smith, Friday, Feb. 2, 4:15 p.m., in Robinson 203. Dr. Smith, currently a visiting assistant professor of Religion at Wabash College, is a candidate for assistant professor of history at Albion College. Please join the History department for an engaging lecture on Catholic women and feminist thought. This event is free and open to the public.

Overlapping Histories of American Cities and American Foreign Relations, Monday at 4:15

American Cities and the World: Global Histories in Unexpected Places is the topic of a talk by Andrew Klein, Monday, Feb. 5, 4:15 p.m. in Robinson 203. Klein is a Ph.D. candidate in history at the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a candidate for assistant professor of history at Albion College. Please join the History department to hear how local struggles for freedom and democracy in American cities in the 19th and 20th centuries contributed to the globalization of the United States. This event is free and open to the public.
