24th Annual Marilyn Crandell Schleg Lecture Oct. 26

Please join us for the Marilyn Crandell Schleg Lecture on October 26 at 7pm in Bobbitt Auditorium. Finding Community Through the Practice of Oral History, will feature a panel of speakers from Eastern Michigan University. The practice of Oral History has the ability to create community for those who feel that their stories have been excluded from traditional archival spaces, but also a community of practice. Alexis Braun Marks, University Archivist; Matt Jones, University Archives Lecturer and Oral History Program Coordinator; and Akaiia Ridley, ’22, current University Archives Graduate Assistant, Albion alumna and creator of The Beginning of Belonging: Exploring the Black History of Albion College will discuss how the oral history program at EMU was established, how they are building community, the creation of the mobile oral history booth (The Aiere), developing the overall program, involving graduate students, and connecting to different community partners. We hope to see you there!

E&E/CSE Colloquium on experiential certificates, digital badges today at 2:15 p.m. in Norris 101

Experiential learning is learning by doing. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about ways to enhance your major and minor and resume by earning experiential learning microcredentials. In CSE, you can design and earn an Experiential Certificate that documents your hands-on experiences and your passion for and expertise in a transformative topic.  You can earn Innovation Badges that showcase your skills, involvement and initiative to future employers and graduate schools.

Kalli Onai, Chrissy Pfeil, and Thom Wilch will be presenting what’s new with Albion On Purpose badges and certificates, while answering all your questions.  Kalli is Albion’s Digital Badge Program Manager and Chrissy is the  SPP Projects and Operations Manager.     All are welcome to attend.

Green Day is Oct. 26

Green Day is coming soon! The Center for Sustainability and the Environment is gearing up for a spectacular event with plenty of pumpkins, donuts, and cider. Fall Green Day showcases student work and projects and provides opportunities for students to learn more about local and regional environmental and sustainability initiatives and organizations. We would love to have you join us Thursday 10/26 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Science Atrium as we celebrate Albion students and their efforts to make Albion more sustainable and environmentally conscious.

Chat with seminary representative about ministry, LGBTQ Inclusion

Sara Babcock, director of admissions at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will visit Albion College on Monday, October 23rd. She will hang out at Reading Between the Grinds (library) to chat about seminary (graduate education in religion/ministry) and LGBTQIA+ inclusion in Christian spaces from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.  You can also set up a meeting with her for another time. Spend a semester in Washington D.C., earn internship experience

The Washington Center will be on campus TODAY, Wednesday, Oct. 18, visiting classrooms, meeting students, and holding a lunch hour information session from noon – 1 p.m. in the Career and Internship Center-Ludington Center (Room #114). Pizza and beverages will be provided.

The Washington Center equips college students and other participants to learn from diverse urban communities through innovative programs, seminars, and internships.

The Albion College Domestic Off-Campus Program Application (Brits Abroad) deadline for spring 2024 has been extended to Wednesday, Oct. 25. If you would like to schedule an individual meeting with The Washington Center representative, please contact Dawn Hernandez at dhernandez@albion.edu to select a time. Sign up for free Cedar Point trip

Our annual trip to Cedar Point this HalloWeekend is coming up! Sign ups will open through ENGAGE/CORQ this Friday, the 20th at 9 A.M. *The form will close at NOON the same day.* Spots are limited so sign ups are REQUIRED to reserve a spot on the list.

The trip will be on Saturday, October 28. Buses will leave in the morning at 9 a.m. and return to campus at 3 a.m.
