Bellemont Manor Estate Sale

We are so excited to announce that Albion College’s Center for Sustainability and the Environment (CSE), AmeriCorps and Albion’s Yesterday’s News will be hosting an estate sale at Bellemont Manor Oct. 24-26th. 

Bellemont Manor is an important piece of Albion College’s and Albion’s history and we are proud to be a part of the process of managing the inventory while promoting sustainable consumption. 

A portion of the proceeds from this sale will go towards the CSE Green Fund, where students can get funding for sustainability projects on campus and the community. 

The sale will be taking place Thurs. Oct. 24th from 4-7pm, Oct. 25th from 10am-5pm and Oct. 26th from 10am-3pm.

Climate Education For All: Empowering a Climate-Ready Workforce, a presentation and Q&A by Dr. Elise DeCamp

Join the Center for Sustainability and the Environment (CSE) and the Earth and Environment (E&E) and Anthropology/Sociology Departments in learning about the work that Higher Education for Climate Action in Michigan (HECAM) is doing to connect and empower higher ed faculty and students. Visiting assistant professor of anthropology Dr. Elise DeCamp will be sharing what HECAM is working to achieve and how students and faculty can get involved in the higher education climate action movement. The presentation and Q&A will be on Thursday, Oct. 17th from 7-8pm in Norris 102. 

Dr. DeCamp provides leadership and organizational support to three Michigan statewide climate-focused educational organizations: Higher Education for Climate Action in Michigan (HECAM), the Climate Education Action Team, and the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education.

We hope you will join us in learning about how Albion can get involved in the climate action movement in Michigan.

Accounting Society – Ever wondered what employers expect from an intern. Or what they look for in your resume?

Enjoy some free pizza on October 22nd, from 4:15 to 5:15 pm in Rob 206 and learn about the internship process and how to build your resume. The Accounting Society will host members of ShindelRock a CPA firm located in Novi, MI. ShidelRock offers everything from tax and audit to forensic accounting. They will discuss the internship process and resume building. Bring your questions and appetite. This meeting is open to everyone no matter your major.

Special Meditation/Q & A with Local Buddhist Monk

On Thursday, October 17th at 7:00 p.m., Prior Chiezan Tomczyk of the SokukoJi Buddhist Temple Monastery in Battle Creek will lead a guided meditation and answer questions about Buddhism, including basics, what it is like to be a Buddhist monk in his order, and how to apply meditation ‘off the cushion’.

The session will be held in Kellogg 405. Whether you are new to meditation, a practicing Buddhist, or just curious about Buddhism, all are welcome. Snacks will be provided.

LGBTQ History Month Short Documentary and Discussion

Join Spiritual Life for a short documentary-viewing and discussion with snacks on Wednesday, October 16th from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the Belonging Lounge for LGBTQ History Month. Together, we will watch a documentary following the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (activists who use drag and religious imagery in performance and protest), as they tell the story of the day they Sainted Derek Jarman, a man dying of AIDS during the height of the crisis. After the film, we will have a brief discussion. Snacks will be provided.
