Holiday Bazaar this Friday!!!

This Friday, Dec. 1, is the annual Holiday Briton Bazaar in the KC from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.!

This year we have 13 vendors and lots of wonderful items for you to choose from:

  • Homemade Soaps, Bath Salts, Body Butter and Candles
  • Knitted Blankets, hats, neck warmers and headbands
  • Handmade Jewelry
  • Chocolates

3D Design Competition

The 3D Innovation Club is sponsoring a 3D Design Competition. Using Tinkercad of Fusion 360, the competitor must create a custom phone case design. It’s easier than you think. The simple instructions are in the link below.

There’s no commitment to participate, only great prizes.

We are also having a workshop to help y’all with your designs on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6 – 7 p.m.

The prizes are:

  • Keurig K Compact Coffee Maker ($100)
  • HD Roku Streaming Device With Simple Remote
  • Custom poster of your choice

Spiritual Life Office Hours This Week

Laura Todd, the assistant director for spiritual wellness, will have open office hours Thursday from 1 – 3 p.m. in Kellogg 301 and Friday from 1:30 – 5 p.m. in the counseling center. You can stop by for a chat and a cup of tea or hot chocolate (and a good cry if needed). You can also schedule an appointment by emailing Laura at ltodd@albion.edu.

“Drawing Together” Dec. 7 at Mudd Library

Join us for the FINAL “Drawing Together” of the semester on Thursday, Dec. 7, starting at 7 p.m. in the Mudd Library Living Room. This end-of-semester “Drawing Together” is all about decompressing with comics: We’ll have SNACKS, DRAWING SUPPLIES, COLORING BOOK pages, and BOOKS from the Albion College Graphic Medicine Collection. For those interested, we’ll also be making a short, hand-folded ZINE! This is an opportunity to get together, make marks on paper, and have a good time — no art experience required!

Thank you to everyone who has joined us for any of the “Drawing Together” workshops this semester — we have loved building this community and hope to see you on Dec. 7! We also hope you’ll continue to enjoy the books in the Graphic Medicine Collection year-round!

Welcome Winter Celebration at Whitehouse Nature Center Dec. 2

Join Whitehouse Nature Center, Spiritual Life, and the Environmental Club on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2 – 5 p.m. for an afternoon of holiday crafting with natural materials, hot drinks and snacks, seasonal music, and (weather permitting) a bonfire and guided contemplative nature walk. The guided walk will take place from 3 – 3:45 p.m.

Everything is free! Meet at the Whitehouse Nature Center visitor’s center for all ‘Welcome Winter Celebration’ activities.

TODAY Write a Letter, Change a Life

Monday, Nov. 27, and Wednesday, Nov. 29, 4:30 ‐ 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 28 and Thursday, Nov. 30, 12:30 – 2 p.m., drop by the KC to join the Human Rights Lab in taking part in Amnesty International’s annual Write for Rights campaign, the largest human rights event in the world!

Write letters for those whose rights have been violated, showing solidarity and applying pressure on decision makers. These letters are proven to make a difference in people’s lives. U.S. citizen Rocky Myers, who’s on death row despite numerous problems in his case, is one of eleven people highlighted in this year’s campaign.

Stationary, sample letters, and case information will be provided at the table in the KC. Write there or take materials to go. For each letter you write you may earn volunteer hours and be entered into a raffle for prizes. Plus there will be snacks!

If you are off campus or unable to make it to the KC, email kla12@albion.edu to learn how to participate remotely or schedule a separate time to pick up materials.
