Spend a semester in Washington D.C., earn internship experience

The Washington Center will be on campus TODAY, Wednesday, Oct. 18, visiting classrooms, meeting students, and holding a lunch hour information session from noon – 1 p.m. in the Career and Internship Center-Ludington Center (Room #114). Pizza and beverages will be provided.

The Washington Center equips college students and other participants to learn from diverse urban communities through innovative programs, seminars, and internships.

The Albion College Domestic Off-Campus Program Application (Brits Abroad) deadline for spring 2024 has been extended to Wednesday, Oct. 25. If you would like to schedule an individual meeting with The Washington Center representative, please contact Dawn Hernandez at dhernandez@albion.edu to select a time. “Spooktacular” Oct. 31, Ferguson Lot closing at 5 p.m.

This year’s Spooktacular will be taking place on the Quad from 5:15-6:30 on Tuesday, October 31st. This is our annual event where we welcome the children of Albion for a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience hosted by our student organizations. If you are interested in registering your group or volunteering as an individual, the form can be found here. Wear your best costume and bring a festive Halloween spirit to offer a wonderful night for kids in the community!

Observe the Moon event Oct. 21

As part of NASA’s International Observe the Moon event Saturday, Oct. 21, the public is invited to view the Moon from the Palenske Science Building roof at Albion College. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting, and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the observation website . The moon will be the star Oct. 21 but viewers will also be able to see other objects, too, including Jupiter, Saturn and constellations. There could be a chance to see the Orionid Meteor shower as well.

If you like poetry, singing, art, music, and many more, come down to Poetic artistry. This is where one can work on their craft, no matter the craft, whether if for school or your journey!! EVERYONE is welcome!! We hold them every Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Olin 220.

Meditation, Q & A with local Buddhist Monk

Monday, October 23rd at 5:00 P.M., Prior Chiezan Tomczyk of the SokukoJi Buddhist Temple Monastery in Battle Creek will lead a guided meditation and answer questions about Buddhism, including basics, what it is like to be a Buddhist monk in his order, and how to apply meditation ‘off the cushion’. The session will be held in the Umbrella House basement. Whether you are new to meditation, a practicing Buddhist, or just curious about Buddhism, all are welcome.

Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser for Global Medical, Dental Brigades

The Global Medical & Dental Brigades Club will be selling Krispy Kreme Donuts in the Kellogg Center on Wednesday, Oct. 18th from 10 am-4pm. All proceeds go towards supporting their travels to Panama next May to provide healthcare to underserved communities. Stop by the table at the KC to buy donuts or pre-order using this form and pick up on Wednesday!

Annual downtown trick or treating event seeks participants

The Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is hosting the 3rd annual sweets on Superior on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1-3pm in downtown Albion. Sweets on Superior was established in 2021 where businesses, organizations and nonprofits festively set up along Superior Street for trick of treating. For 2023, the Greater Albion Chamber is seeking participating businesses, organizations, and nonprofits to pass out candy during the event. If any organizations, clubs or Greek life wish to participate please contact Kelly via email asap.
