New Islamic Prayer Space in Vulgamore

Spiritual Life, The Office of Belonging, and the Center for International Education are pleased to share that we have worked together to procure and set up a new prayer space in Vulgamore 214 starting this week. The room will be unlocked and reserved for prayer from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day for the rest of the spring semester. The room is equiped with prayer rugs, caps, shoe rack, Qur’an, and qibla sign, and a few more items are on the way. Please note, we also have interfaith prayer/meditation spaces available in Boyd Meditation Chapel and the Umbrella House.

Today at Noon – Virtual Visit with Casper ter Kuile

Casper ter Kuile will visit virtually today, Thursday, Feb. 22, at 12 p.m. Casper is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School, author of The Power of Ritual, former co-host of Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, and co-founder of Nearness, an online spiritual community for people of all faiths (including people who are not religious). He also has experience with environmental advocacy. Casper will chat with us about his work and lead an optional spiritual practice. Nearness is offering a free spring journey (series of small group sessions) focused on the theme of Holy Friendship for young adults, so this chat is a good opportunity to learn about that offering. There are no faith requirements to participate.

Help needed! Granny Squares

Do you crochet? If so I need help crocheting classic granny squares. These are a square motif with clusters of double crochet. Each granny square is about 3.5 by 3.5 inches. These granny would make a house for my Art Senior Show which represents a community of people coming together to create a home. Philip C Curtis Artist in Residence – Robert Martin’s “Inland Sea”

The Department of Art & Art History invites you to the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center on Friday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. for the opening exhibition reception for our Philip C. Curtis Artist in Residence, Robert Martin. “Inland Sea” will be displayed in the Munro Gallery from Feb. 19 to March 22. There will be an Artist Talk on Feb. 23 at 5:30 pm. Please come and show support for the arts at Albion College!

Gallery note: this exhibition features sexually explicit content.

2024 Recent Graduate Student Trustee Applications Due March 1

Applications for the 2024 Recent Graduate Student Trustee Position are currently being accepted. This is a 2-year position on the Albion College Board of Trustees. Students who will be May 2024 graduates or who graduated early in December 2023 are encouraged to apply.

Students interested in applying should review the position description and application which are available at the Kellogg Center Information Desk and through the Student Development Office.

Applications and supporting material must be submitted to the Office of Student Development, Ferguson Hall, Suite 216 or StudentDevelopment@Albion.edu before 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Started thinking about where you’ll live next year?

We’re excited to release the Room Selection Process (RSP) for next year!

This information is most applicable for students returning for Fall enrollment.

Our department website provides a summary timeline for student action steps during RSP, with related forms and processes opening March 11 in eRezLife (log in with college username and password).

There will be some big changes to the process this year, so keep an eye on your email for detailed communication about RSP action steps, and take a moment now to reflect on the environmental, social, and financial factors you should consider for next year. Lottery numbers have been released and uploaded to eRezLife student profiles.

  • Step 1: Every student completes the initial housing FORM (March 11 – 25)
  • Step 2: Create your roommate PROFILE
  • Step 3: Form a roommate GROUP
  • Step 4: EXPLORE housing options available/eligible for your group
  • Step 5: SELECT your group assignment (April 1 – 5)

IKUS has openings for Camp Counselors and Health Officers at their Indian Trails Camp this summer, May 27 – Aug. 9.
