Growing Michigan Together Council wants your feedback and suggestions.

Students, Staff, and Faculty are invited to Join the Grow Michigan Together Council and State Rep. Jim Haadsma for a community town hall today, Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in Upper Baldwin.

The Growing Michigan Together Council wants your feedback and suggestions! Governor Whitmer-created, bipartisan council is tasked with developing specific policies to grow Michigan’s population, including identifying a population goal for 2050 by December 2023. The GMTC wants to know what programs, investments and/or policies folks think would help grow the state’s population, improve educational outcomes, attract and retain talent, and build long-term, sustainable infrastructure. These sessions allow the council to hear directly from the community about what policies and changes Michigan can make to ensure people want to stay here and make Michigan an even better place to call home!

Friday @ 5 p.m. — All Journalism is Local: A conversation with Aydali Campa of Inside Climate News

Join the Pleiad Friday at 5 p.m. in Norris 101 for the inaugural Richard M. Smith, ’68, Pleiad Speaker Series talk.

Aydali Campa is a bilingual multimedia journalist in Chicago, originally from the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona. Her award-winning story on Mexican children crossing the border to attend schools in the U.S., her work with Teach for America, and COVID-19 coverage for The Arizona Republic and the Wall Street Journal have shaped her focus on in-depth journalism. For Inside Climate News, she produced a series about the mistrust two historically Black communities in Atlanta had of the federal government remediating their home’s soil from lead.

In a Q&A with Pleiad adviser Krista Quesenberry, Campa will discuss her career and open up our campus dialogues about environmental justice, bilingual communication, career preparation, journalism ethics and more.

Pre-purchased Pleiad fundraiser t-shirts will be available for pick-up. This event is free and open to the public.
