Free 3D prints in the Innovation Lab – for a limited time 

The 3D Innovations Club is sponsoring free 3D prints for students starting Monday Oct. 23rd until Friday, Nov. 10. Interested in 3D printing an object or learning the process of 3D printing? Stop by the Innovation Lab in Seeley-Mudd during open hours and talk to a staff member about how to get started! 

Innovation Lab Hours: 

  • Mon-Thurs 8 am-9 pm
  • Friday 8 am-5 pm
  • Saturday 1 pm-5 pm
  • Sunday 1 pm-9 pm

The 3D Innovations Club meets every other Thursday from 6-7 pm in the Innovation Lab and anyone is welcome to join. We spend our meetings learning 3D design and printing, and will look at a competition next semester.

Join us from 5-9 pm on Thursday, Oct. 26 in the Albion College Innovation Lab (Seeley-Mudd Library) for our Halloween party. We’ll have scary Virtual Reality games, Halloween themed snacks, and more!

Attention creative writers

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is just around the corner, and the Albion District Library and AC Writing Consulting program are hosting a series of events to support ALL Albion novelists! NaNoWriMo challenges writers to produce 50,000 words throughout November, providing a platform for camaraderie, competition, and continual support every day of the month. Albion Community Garden clean-up Oct. 21

On Saturday 10/21, beginning at 8 am, the Center for Sustainability and the Environment (CSE) is joining community members for the annual fall clean-up of the Albion Community Garden at 1009 N. Jefferson St., Albion.

We are putting the gardens to bed for the winter and could use your help.  CSE and the Student Farm partnered with the Community Garden  this year and together we have grown and produced nearly 5000 lbs of produce for the community of Albion.  Volunteers can come when and for how long as they are able. We are offering rides to student volunteers if needed (contact Thom Wilch (twilch@albion.edu).

Albion College spring course at Jackson Prison

You are invited to learn more about a unique, transformative learning opportunity: The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program. Inside-Out brings college students together with incarcerated people to study as peers in a seminar behind prison walls. It is a semester-long academic course, meeting once a week, through which 15 “outside” (Albion) students and the same number of “inside” (incarcerated) students attend class together inside prison.

24th Annual Marilyn Crandell Schleg Lecture Oct. 26

Please join us for the Marilyn Crandell Schleg Lecture on October 26 at 7pm in Bobbitt Auditorium. Finding Community Through the Practice of Oral History, will feature a panel of speakers from Eastern Michigan University. The practice of Oral History has the ability to create community for those who feel that their stories have been excluded from traditional archival spaces, but also a community of practice. Alexis Braun Marks, University Archivist; Matt Jones, University Archives Lecturer and Oral History Program Coordinator; and Akaiia Ridley, ’22, current University Archives Graduate Assistant, Albion alumna and creator of The Beginning of Belonging: Exploring the Black History of Albion College will discuss how the oral history program at EMU was established, how they are building community, the creation of the mobile oral history booth (The Aiere), developing the overall program, involving graduate students, and connecting to different community partners. We hope to see you there!
