Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar, Ingrid Daubechies Lecture

Part of a joint effort of the Physics, Math & Computer Science and the Art & Art History Department’s, Physicist and Mathmatician, Ingrid Daubechies will give a lecture on her collaborative, visual installation Mathemalchemy!  Join us Monday, Sept 16 at 7pm in Norris 101 to hear about a project that brought together 24 mathematicians and artist to create an installation embracing the long connection between math and art.

Boathouse Hours for September

Beese-Havens Boathouse is open for the Fall 2024 semester! Welcoming all students to come and enjoy the Kalamazoo River. Located behind the Dow, next to the track along the river. We will provide equipment and a brief training for safe navigation of the river. For our normal loop, students will launch from the boathouse upstream, then turn around and return to the boathouse downstream.

We will not permit canoeing below 50 degrees F or extreme weather conditions, please look at the CSE Instagram page for weather cancellations. The boathouse unfortunately will not be available for the whole semester, please stay posted on the Albion Today email list for October.

Telescope Observing on Saturday (9/14)

On Saturday, the Moon is the star!

In celebration of International Observe the Moon Night, the telescopes on the roof of Palenske Hall will be open from 6:30 – 8 pm, weather permitting. If we can see the Moon, we’ll be open. If it’s cloudy or raining, we will not be open.

Access the Palenske roof via the elevator or the stairwell on the east end of the building.

Wednesday, 9/18: Tabling for a bake sale in the KC from 11am-2pm! We will also be collecting returnable pop cans so bring any extras you might have!

Friday, 9/20 at 6pm (on the quad): The Theta Games! Join us for a competition between Greek chapters, including relay races and a tug-of-war tournament!
