Women’s History Month Roundtable Thursday evening March 14

In keeping with the Women’s History Month theme for 2024, “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”, the Albion College Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Department is sponsoring a roundtable discussion this Thursday, March 14, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. in the Albion College Stockwell-Mudd Library’s Mudd Learning Center. Our panelists, who are advocates for equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Albion community and beyond, are: Mae Ola Dunklin (retired Albion Public Schools educator, community activist and Albion College Board of Trustees member), Ashley Feagin (Art & Art History department professor and chair), Kalli Onai ’19 (Albion College Social Media and Content Strategist), Jess Roberts (English department professor), and Katherine Maher ’19 (Adoption Resource Consultant with Orchards Children’s Services). Lucia Soriano, Ethnic Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Departments, will moderate. Refreshments to follow. This event is free and open to the public.

Apply to become a Peer Writing Consultant

Are you curious why “good” writing looks different in different contexts? Have friends, family, or teachers told you that you have a way with words? Do you have a passion for communication in your major or future career? If any of these things resonate with you, apply to join the Writing Consulting team!

Writing Consulting is hiring Peer Writing Consultants for the 2024–25 academic year. As a Peer Writing Consultant, you’ll help writers accomplish their goals for projects at any stage of development and for courses across the curriculum. Students of all majors who are curious about language, learning, and writing are encouraged to apply.

Are you interested in becoming an Albion-O Leader?

The application is now open for Albion-O Leaders. The Albion-O Leader works closely with the Albion-O Planning Committee during Albion Orientation week for first-year and transfer students. In this role, you will work with the professional staff planning the event to organize, manage, and implement the entire week of Albion-O programming. Albion-O leaders move in on Monday, August 19, 2024, and spend the day preparing for orientation which begins on Wednesday, August 21. Albion-O takes place from Wednesday, August 21 through Sunday, August 25. Students must be available for that entire period. If you are interested please apply through Handshake.

Spend a semester in Philadelphia or Chicago and gain valuable internship experience!

The Philadelphia and Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture Campus Representative, Greer Anderson, will be on campus Wednesday, March 13, 2024, visiting some classrooms, meeting students, and holding a lunch hour information session from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the Career and Internship Center-Ludington Center, room #114. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

The Philadelphia and Chicago Center equips college students and other participants to learn from diverse urban communities through innovative programs, seminars, and internships. The Albion College Domestic Off-Campus Program Application (Brits Abroad) deadline for summer and fall 2024 is Wednesday, March 20, 2024. If you are unable to attend the information session and would like to schedule an individual meeting with Greer Anderson, please contact Dawn Hernandez at dhernandez@albion.edu to select a time.

Spots still available! Free Trip to the Gerald Ford Museum

The History club is sponsoring a trip to the Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids this Saturday, March 16. Transportation is provided. We will be leaving campus at 11:45 a.m. and returning around 6:45 p.m. We still have a handful of tickets left for students! Also, we have one ticket left available for staff! If you confirm a spot for this trip, you are expected to attend this Saturday, March 16 since we will not be able to get ticket refunds.
