Dr. Ian Shin is the invited speaker for today’s (Wed., Oct. 4) Coy James Lecture in American History at 4:30 p.m. in the Bobbitt Auditorium. Born in Hong Kong and raised in California, he is a professor of social and cultural history at the University of Michigan. Dr. Shin has a wide variety of research interests in Asian American history and the history of the U.S. in the Pacific World between 1850 and 1950. Please join the History department for Dr. Shin’s talk, “Collecting Empire: Chinese Art and U.S. Imperial Stewardship in the Early 20th Century.” Refreshments will be served.
